Applying stamps to your direct mail piece not only adds to the appearance of your envelope or postcard, it’s also been proven to increase response, up to 30 percent more than mail pieces that don’t have stamps. If you want to add a personal touch to your mass mailings, stamps are great way to do it.
Most people don’t realize that stamps can be applied by machines at speeds of up to 10,000 per hour. They think some guy is sitting there licking and sticking all of these stamps.
We only charge about 2 cents to apply stamp to an envelope. We have machines that actually moisten the stamps and stick them onto the envelopes. After we run them through the machines we flip through each and every envelope to make sure that everyone has a stamp.
Stamps are available for bulk mailings, straight first-class, and first-class presort. If the stamps cost 10 cents apiece to buy, and the postage is 19 cents per piece, then we would pay two checks to the post office, one for the cost of the stamps and another for the difference in postage. Sometimes you might get an envelope with a stamp that says 10 cents and think that someone sent this out for only 10 cents per piece when in reality they had to pay the difference to the post office when they presented the mail. All of these details are documented on the 3602 forms that we present to the post office.
